Robbery is the taking and carrying away of property from someone else, by force or threat of force, with the intent to steal the property. In order to convict the defendant, the State must prove:

  1. that the defendant took the property from the victim;

  2. that the defendant took the property by force or threat of force; and

  3. that the defendant intended to steal the property, in other words, to permanently deprive the victim of the property
